How it Works
Chair-side teeth whitening
- It all starts with a normal dental examination and professional cleaning at Halton Village Dental. During this examination, the dentist will prepare you for your teeth whitening procedure by recommending that you brush your teeth with toothpaste for sensitive teeth for one week ahead of your teeth whitening appointment. This toothpaste should help relieve sensitivity, which is a possible short-term result of professional teeth whitening.
- During your appointment, your gums will be covered using a block-out resin. We will then carefully apply a hydrogen peroxide gel solution to the treatment area. We will apply a blue light, which activates the gel and check it at 15-minute intervals. In most cases, teeth whiten three to four levels on the shade guide after three fifteen-minute intervals. If necessary, we will leave it on for a fourth interval.
- Once the bleaching gel is washed away, we will apply a relief gel and explain your dietary restrictions for the next few days. Coffee and red wine will be on that list, as will be very cold and very hot food or beverages.
At-home teeth whitening
- This option requires three visits to Halton Village Dental. During the first impression, we will clean your teeth and take an impression, which will be sent to the laboratory. The dental lab will create custom bleaching trays which you will take home and wear every night for two weeks.
- During your third appointment at Halton Village Dental, we will apply a laser teeth whitening procedure. We will supply you with gels to use along with your teeth whitening trays to keep your smile bright and beautiful.
- Most people will experience brief sensitivity for a few days, but brushing with toothpaste for sensitive teeth will certainly help.
